Four fire crews tackle bushland fire in Bilston

West Midlands Fire Service dealt with a fire at an area of grassland in Bilston on Monday, August 25 evening.

Four crews from across the West Midlands responded to the fire on Peter Avenue in Bilston after 6pm.

The fire was brought under control by the crews, who left the scene shortly after 9pm.

A spokesman from West Midlands Fire Service said: "Shortly after 6.30pm on Monday 25 August, we responded to Peter Avenue, Bilston.

"Four fire engines and two 4x4 brigade response vehicles attended, crewed by firefighters from Wolverhampton, Fallings Park, Wednesbury, Dudley and Tettenhall stations. The first crew arrived at the scene within four minutes of being mobilised.

"This was a fire affecting an area of grassland, trees and bushes. Five hose reels and beaters were used to extinguish the fire, which was contained to the affected area.

 "Any remaining hotspots were extinguished, and we left this incident at 9.10pm."
