Green Park School confirmed that an ambulance had been called 'as a precaution' to assess a 'small number of individuals' who reported feeling nauseous; however, no serious concerns were identified.

A Green Park School spokesperson said: "Green Park School was closed to pupils and staff this morning following the detection of an unusual odour in the vicinity of the swimming pool.

"Staff responded promptly with the health and well-being of children and staff, the school's top priority. As a precaution, paramedics were called to assess a small number of individuals who reported feeling nauseous.

"No serious concerns were identified, and the school would like to express its gratitude to emergency services personnel for their support and advice."

They confirmed that an investigation is now underway to determine the source of the odour, which they believe is associated with a 'mechanical issue'.

The spokesperson added: "An investigation is now underway to determine the source of the odour, which is currently believed to be associated with a mechanical issue, and any remedial work which may be necessary. No chemical incident was identified.

"Stowlawn Primary School, which shares the site, was also closed as a precaution. Both Green Park and Stowlawn will remain closed tomorrow (Wednesday 21st January) whilst checks are carried out by school and council staff."

The spokesperson added that both schools will update families on reopening dates once the issue is resolved.

West Midlands Fire Service confirmed that three fire engines attended the school after receiving a call at 12.17pm today, adding that crews from Bilston, Willenhall and Wolverhampton were in attendance.

Specialist monitoring equipment was used; however, nothing of concern was detected.
