'Some places have Hovis or Marmite - we had Banks's' - Drinkers bid farewell to famous bitter after 150 years in Wolverhampton
Wolverhampton's historic Banks's Brewery has brewed its last after 150 years.
Banks's fans and residents of Wolverhampton shared their deep sorrow as the beloved brewery brewed its final bitter at the end of August.
The historic brewery had been in operation for 150 years, first launching on the Brewery Road site in 1875, with locals calling the site an 'integral and iconic' part of the city.
Daniel Yeoman, 43 and of Wolverhampton, told the Express & Star: "It's a sad day, it really is. It's the end of an era for the city. It's always been an iconic place, and it's integral to who we are.
"Some places have Hovis or Marmite, we had Banks's for more than 100 years. It's part of who we really are. It's sad."

Workers are set to leave on September 30, putting around 97 local jobs at risk.
Robert Parker, 31 and of Dudley, said: "I work in Wolverhampton and it's one of those buildings that I've always known to be there. It's a bit of a landmark.
"It's been here for around 150 years, it's a shame that it's going. And obviously it's a shame that people might lose their jobs."

The company, which was formally known as the Carlsberg Marston's Brewing Company (CMBC), announced the closure in October 2024, with bosses at the group remaining tight-lipped about the job losses or the full timeline.
Dominic Harrison, 61 and of Dunstall Hill, said: "It's horrible really. I've been drinking Banks's since I was legally allowed to drink, really. It's weird to say, but it's been a part of a lot of our lives.
"I just don't think anything will ever taste the same. It's made by local people with local hands. It's a shame."
