Man found with gunshot wounds outside Wolverhampton property as police appeal for witnesses and information

West Midlands Police have appealed for information after a man was found with gunshot wounds outside a property in Wolverhampton.

Witnesses are needed as police investigate the incident that took place near Phoenix Park, Dudley Road, Wolverhampton on Tuesday, August 26 morning.

Officers were called to Hailes Park Close, at just before 2am where a man had injuries which are believed to be potentially life-threatening.

The man in his 30s was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to hospital, where police say he remains in a stable condition.

West Midlands Police carried out a thorough search of the area, and house-to-house enquiries will continue as investigators work to identify and trace who was responsible.

Phoenix Park has been sealed off while on-going forensic examinations are completed and CCTV is also being recovered and reviewed as enquiries continue.

A statement on West Midlands Police's website said: "Our teams know that incidents like this can be a real cause for concern but officers believe this is an isolated incident and extra patrols are being carried out to offer reassurance to people in the area over the coming days.
