Wolverhampton charity leader ready to lead brave volunteers over hot coals for unique fundraising challenge
Brave volunteers are set to take on a challenging walk over hot coals as a unique and fiery fundraising event returns to a city charity.
Specialist palliative and bereavement support provider Compton Care is inviting brave supporters to take on its Firewalk Challenge this autumn to raise vital funds.
The event will take place on the evening of Friday, October 10 at Compton Hall and is hosted by Firewalk UK, who will stoke up the red-hot embers.
Daring fundraisers will then undergo an hour of training before taking to the coals one-by-one to complete the challenge.
Rachel Overfield, chief executive officer at Compton Care, is one of the participants taking on the fiery feat and said it was a worthwhile challenge to help the communities the charity supports.
She said: “Every year, our dedicated supporters raise millions of pounds to enable us to continue providing our specialist services for local people living with a life limiting condition, and take on some amazing challenges.
"Compton Care is such an important part of the local communities we support, so I am more than happy to walk over hot coals to help raise vital funds and join the brave individuals taking on the Firewalk.”

Community and events fundraiser at Compton Care, Cara Bright, said: “We’re so excited to launch our Firewalk Challenge.
"This will be an unforgettable experience for everyone taking part, with the added bonus of helping to raise much needed funds for Compton.
“Everyone taking part will receive a fabulous Firewalk t-shirt to wear on the night and our onsite coffee shop, Crumbles, will have hot drinks and food available for purchase throughout the event.
"So, sign up today, bring your family and friends along to support you in October and let’s make this an event to remember.”
The Firewalk Challenge is one of a number of fundraising challenge by the charity, which supports local people living with life-limiting conditions through its range of specialist services, including clinical care on its Inpatient Unit and also supports patients out in the community, providing specialist care in the place they call home.
Patients’ families also have access to the charity’s services and specialist bereavement support.
