Fire crews extinguish blaze at Darlaston battery recycling centre
Fire crews worked quickly to tackle a blaze at a battery recycling centre this morning.
Five crews from Willenhall, Bloxwich and Wolverhampton were called to the fire on Willenhall Road in Darlaston at 9.45am today (Saturday) and found a small fire had developed in an external storage area.
The crews used hose reels to put out the fire, with three crews remaining at the site afterwards to dampen down.
A spokeswoman for West Midlands Fire Service said: "We were called to reports of a fire at a battery recycling centre on Willenhall Road in Darlaston at 9.45am, with five appliances from Willenhall, Bloxwich and Wolverhampton sent to the scene.
"They found a fire in the external storage area and extinguished it quickly, with two crews leaving the scene and the incident being scaled down."
