Two more jailed for 'vicious machete attack' in Darlaston that left victim disabled
Two more men have been given extended jail sentences for a vicious machete attack that left the victim suffering from epilepsy and unable to talk.
Darlaston businessman Inderjit Singh Dulay, aged 34, was left with skull fractures, a brain injury and slash wounds in the attack which happened at the junction of Victoria Road and Richards Street after he and his girlfriend were cornered in their car by a group arriving in separate vehicles on November 21, 2023.
He was left with life-changing injuries after being struck repeatedly on the head with a hammer and struck with machetes during the incident which happened at about 8.10pm outside the homes of stunned residents who told the group they had phoned for the police in a bid to encourage them to leave.
Involved in the crime were Danyel Nadeem, aged 22, and Waqas Hussain, aged 26, both of Darlaston, who were both sentenced on Friday (November 14) at Wolverhampton Crown Court for their roles which Judge John Butterfield KC said were linked in some way to the "pernicious" drugs trade.
Both had denied wounding with intent, but were convicted following a jury trial in September. Nadeem was also convicted of failing to provide his mobile phone PIN code to the police.
