The borough is in the middle of a £1 billion transformation programme to create new homes, jobs and opportunities for residents, including efforts to put empty buildings back into economic use.

Among the major works being done is the long-awaited Walsall Guildhall revamp which is due to be completed in the summer following extensive and careful restoration.

The stunning Grade II-listed building in St Matthew's Quarter will be a hub of creativity offering space for artists to build and grow their creative businesses. It will then be managed as a Creative Industries Enterprise Centre by Urban Hax CIC and is already being marketed as 'The Guildhall' to potential users and investors.

The building is among three earmarked for the project with the adjoining neglected former police station which is also Grade II-listed and an old restaurant on Goodall Street being the others that will form the whole site.
