53 Walsall businesses issued the worst food hygiene ratings in 2025
Across the borough of Walsall 53 food outlets have been given the lowest or second lowest rating possible during 2025.
Every business offering food is regularly assessed by the Food Standards Agency.
Each is then issued a rating of one to five based on three categories: cleanliness of facilities and the building, management of food safety and food handling.
The worst rating is zero, ‘requires urgent improvement’. Five outlets across Walsall were issued a zero in 2025.
Three of them scored the lowest marks in each of the three categories, Chilli Hut on Birchills Street, Smash & Stack on Wednesbury Road, and Khan’s Fish Bar on Milton Street.
Forty-eight were issued the second lowest rating of one – ‘major improvement necessary’.
Also in 2025, KayDees, on Wolverhampton Road, was forced to temporarily close after being issued an emergency prohibition notice on March 10.
It followed a visit to the premises which found ‘clear evidence of a mice infestation, including droppings found underneath the grill’.
The business has since reopened after making necessary changes and now has a rating of two from an inspection in September.
