Two men facing jail over drive-by shooting in West Bromwich High Street which left man seriously injured
Two men are facing jail for their parts in a broad daylight drive-by shooting in West Bromwich High Street which left a man seriously injured.
Shots were fired by the driver of a black Vauxhall Mokka towards a white Volkswagen Golf at the junction of West Bromwich High Street and Trinity Way.
The first shot missed but the second shattered the rear windscreen of the Golf, injuring a man in his 20s.
He presented at the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital shortly after the attack, at about 11.30am on May 1 this year, with shoulder and head injuries, but survived.
Now the gunman and a man who helped him have been convicted, after a major CCTV investigation helped identify the suspects.
West Midlands Police Major Crime Unit officers established that Adyan Hussain, aged 22, had been driving the Mokka and had fired the shots at the Golf.

Around 30 minutes before the attack, he had been dropped off on Leopard Lane, West Bromwich, in a different car by a man called Naveed Hussain.
Adyan Hussain drove off in the Mokka and changed its numberplates just before the attack.
After the attack, Adyan Hussain abandoned the car in Oldbury. Both men collected it the following day and changed its plates for a second time.

At Wolverhampton Crown Court on Monday (October 6), Adyan Hussain, of Salisbury Road, West Bromwich, admitted possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, while Naveed Hussain, also 22, of Ida Road, West Bromwich, admitted assisting an offender.
Both men had initially been charged with attempted murder. They will be sentenced on October 20.
Detective Inspector Francis Nock, from the Major Crime Unit Reactive Team, said: “This was a violent attack on a busy High Street, which left a man seriously injured and could easily have killed him.
“We have not been able to establish a motive for this attack, and it’s worrying that those involved felt they could use such violence on the streets of the West Midlands.
“Thankfully, the determination of investigators to bring them to justice has paid off.
“Guns have no place on the streets of the West Midlands, and our detectives and firearms officers work closely with local policing officers to build a picture of those involved in gun crime so that we can take them off the streets and put them behind bars.”
