Woman left with minor injuries following Walsall M6 crash between lorry and car that caused multi-lane closure

Two lanes of the M6 in Walsall were closed this morning following a crash between a lorry and a car.

West Midlands Ambulance Service have reported that a woman was left with 'minor injuries' following a crash between a car and a lorry on the M6 between Walsall and Wednesbury this morning. 

Two lanes of the M6 were closed on the northbound route, near Junction 9 for Walsall and Wednesbury, following reports of a crash at around 5am.

West Midlands Ambulance Service dispatched one ambulance to the scene, where crews discovered the lorry and car which had been involved in the collision. 

One patient, a woman, was treated by ambulance staff for minor injuries before being conveyed to Walsall Manor Hospital. 

An ambulance service spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of an RTC on the M6 Northbound at junction 9 near Wednesbury at 4.55am. 

"An ambulance was sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews found a car and a lorry had been involved in a collision. 

"A woman was treated by ambulance staff for minor injuries and conveyed to Walsall Manor Hospital."

National Highways West Midlands reported that both lanes were released at around 6.11am; however, congestion was backing up to Junction 1 on the M5. 

A National Highways West Midlands spokesperson said: "All lanes are now open on the M6 northbound within Junction 9, for Wednesbury and Walsall.

"Traffic was held briefly by police to aid in removing the traffic management. 

"Please allow extra journey time whilst traffic flow returns to normal. 

"Congestion is back to Junction 1 of the M5."

According to Google Maps, some traffic remains on the motorway as of 10.05am.

West Midlands Police have been approached for more information.
