Murder investigation in Smethwick after woman found dead at an industrial estate
A murder investigation is underway after a woman was discovered dead in Smethwick this morning (August 11).
West Midlands Police were called to an industrial estate off Woodburn Road, Smethwick at just after 6.10am today.
A woman was found at the scene, but despite the best efforts of the emergency services nothing could be done to revive her.
A statement from the police said: "A murder investigation is underway after a woman was sadly discovered dead in Smethwick this morning (August 11).
"We were called to an industrial estate off Woodburn Road at just after 6.10am.
"Tragically, nothing could be done to revive the woman and she was sadly confirmed dead at the scene.
"We are in the early stages of our investigation and a police scene remains in place."
The West Midlands Ambulance Service said that two ambulances were dispatched to the scene, where crews found the woman, who sadly could not be saved.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 6.17am to an incident on Woodburn Road, Smethwick.
"Two ambulances attended the scene. Upon arrival, we found a woman. Sadly, it was clear that nothing could be done to save her, and she was confirmed deceased at the scene."
