Man arrested in Great Barr with police helicopter support after driving with 'cloned plates' and a machete discovery

Police have arrested a man in his 40s after a car was stopped on suspicion of cloned plates by officers in Old Oscott, Great Barr yesterday evening (Saturday) and a machete was found.

Acting on information following a burglary at a premises in Solihull last week, and with support from the police helicopter, the vehicle was brought to a halt at around 10.30pm in Amblecote Avenue.

The driver, aged 49, was detained and during searches a machete was recovered from the vehicle.

The man, who was arrested on suspicion of burglary, possessing an offensive weapon and driving while disqualified remains in police custody for further questioning.
