'He deserves the truth' - Campaigner and family of Ryan Passey set to mark milestone with renewed hope
The family of Ryan Passey will mark the eighth anniversary of the acquittal of the man accused of his murder with renewed hope that a police re-investigation into the case will provide answers and justice.
The 24-year-old and keen footballer was fatally stabbed on a night out at Chicago's nightclub in Stourbridge in August 2017.
Kobe Murray admitted stabbing Mr Passey but was found not guilty of murder or manslaughter on February 6 2018. A civil case later concluded he had unlawfully killed him.
In August 2024 West Midlands Police reopened their investigation into the 24-year-old's death and it is understood to be reaching a conclusion.
The Justice For Ryan campaign was started in the wake of his death and every year they mark the anniversary of the stabbing with a bike ride entitled 'Ride for Justice.. Ride for Ryan.'
Jason Connon from Stourbridge Football Club where Ryan was a former youth team player said the family would mark the date of the acquittal with renewed determination and confidence.
