'It could have been a lot worse' - Stourbridge bus station reopened after bus caught fire

Stourbridge bus station was closed to passengers for thirty minutes this morning (Friday, August 29) after a bus engine fire.

Stourbridge bus station was temporarily shut after a bus started spewing smoke from its engine just after 8am on Friday, August 29.

Fire services were quick to arrive at the scene, and ensured the station was able to reopen shortly after 9am.

A member of staff, who didn't want to be named, said: "The incident happened at around 8.15am.

"The back of a bus looked to be on fire and there was a lot of smoke. Fortunately, the fire service got here quickly and put it out, so it could have been a lot worse than it was.

"We were able to reopen the bus station and resume normal service just after 9am."
