New Netherton coffee shop and Lye car wash approved by Dudley Council planners
Dudley Council planners have approved a new coffee shop and EV charging points on a vacant plot of land in Netherton.
The application site is at the junction of Chapel Street and Halesowen Road within the Washington Centre.
The new coffee retail outlet will include a drive-thru and provide 25 car parking spaces as well as the EV charging bays.
The parking configuration was revised by the applicant after a highways consultant raised concerns about pedestrian safety and the location of disabled bays.

A statement on behalf of applicant Folkes Holdings Jersey Ltd said: “The site has been vacant for some time and currently makes no contribution to the economy.
“The proposed development would be an employment generating use that would create new jobs in the borough.
“There is an evidenced need for new food and drink outlets in the area and a qualitative need for this type of provision in the vicinity.
“There are no adverse impacts that would significantly and demonstrably outweigh the benefits of the development.”
Planners have also given the go-ahead for three new car wash bays and an extension at a store on Dudley Road in Lye.
The car wash would be open from 7am to 9pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 7pm on Sundays and public holidays.
The extension would be added to the existing retail store at a newly constructed petrol filling station and shop.
A report from council officers on the proposal said: “The proposed development, subject to appropriate conditions, would make a positive contribution to place making through high quality design.
“Furthermore, the proposed noise and light mitigation measures that are to be secured by condition would seek to protect the amenities of neighbouring occupiers and there would not be any adverse impact upon highway safety.”
