A maximum of £10,000 will be available for each event to help communities come together to celebrate service personnel, veterans, reservists, cadets and military families.
Miss Kumar said Dudley had a proud armed forces community, and this funding is a fantastic opportunity for local organisations to bring people together and show their appreciation for those who serve and have served the country.
"Armed Forces Day is about saying thank you, not just in words, but through community celebration. I would love to see Dudley groups apply so our borough can mark the day in style and recognise the contribution our Armed Forces make every day.”
She said Armed Forces Day events could include activities such as community picnics, parades, performances, exhibitions, family activities, and stands run by military units or veterans’ organisations. Funding can be used for practical costs such as road closures, event insurance, security, publicity, equipment hire and communications systems.
Miss Kumar added: “Events like these strengthen community spirit, attract visitors and help reconnect society with the Armed Forces."
She urged any organisation interested in hosting an event to contact her office.
"I’ll be happy to support your application,” she said.
