'The time has flown by': Manager of popular Sutton Coldfield pub retires after nearly 20 years
A pub manager has thanked staff and customers after announcing her retirement from managing a Sutton Coldfield pub.
Siobhan Hayward, pub manager at The Bishop Vesey on Boldmere Road, has announced her retirement after 19 years of running the pub.
The 55-year-old took over as pub manager in July 2006. During her time at The Bishop Vesey, the pub was named West Midlands Pub of the Year for 11 consecutive years, by members of the Lichfield, Tamworth & Sutton Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) branch.
She said: “I can’t believe how quickly the time has flown by.

“I love the pub, the team and all the regular customers, that is what has made me stay for so long.
“The Bishop Vesey has been a massive part of my life, I’ll keep in touch with the team and pop in from time to time.”
The Wetherspoons pub, which first opened in December 1997, has been included in CAMRA’s The Good Beer Guide 2026, for the 25th year in succession.
