Bus crashes into stop outside Birmingham shopping centre - emergency services called
A bus has crashed into a stop outside a shopping centre in Birmingham.
A National Express West Midlands 997 bus, whose route runs between Birmingham city centre and Walsall, crashed into the stop on Aldridge Road, near the One Stop Shopping Centre, at around 12pm today (January 2).
Nobody was said to have been injured in the incident, and the double decker bus has been taken away from the scene. Work to make the damaged bus stop safe has begun.
As roads and pavements across the West Midlands began the day covered in snow and ice, more than a dozen National Express West Midlands bus routes were affected by the weather.
Many have now resumed their usual route, with gritting planned for Friday evening.
A spokesperson for the bus company said: "A National Express West Midlands bus on the 977 service was involved in an incident this morning on Aldridge Road in poor weather conditions.
"Emergency services attended the scene and there were no reported injuries. We advise customers to check our social media channels for the latest updates to services during this period of severe weather and apologise for any delay to their journeys."
