Section 60 powers will be in place across two areas of Birmingham overnight as police investigate a 'shooting'.

West Midlands Police announced that stop and search powers are in place in parts of Washwood Heath and Ward End this evening and overnight following serious incidents being investigated in the area - including a firearms discharge in Ward End Park Road.
Section 60 powers allow police to stop and search people "without the need to have reasonable grounds" and will be in place between 6pm today (Friday) until 4am tomorrow (Saturday).
A spokesperson for the force said: "As always, our main focus is on keeping everyone safe.
"We'll continue to have an increased presence in the area to offer reassurance to the local community. "
