A couple whose dream wedding was almost ruined after the Black Country hotel they booked shut down a week before their big day have tied the knot in style.

Lisa Tipper and Andrew Jones, of Bilston, were left £3,200 out of pocket when The Compass Hotel in Walsall where they had booked their reception closed without warning at the end of last month.

But, after some last-minute re-arranging, the couple secured Birmingham's Copthorne Hotel where they celebrated following their wedding at St Lawrence Church in Darlaston on Saturday.

Lisa, aged 27, from Bilston said: "To do it in seven days, it was the wedding of the century.

"The hotel staff were brilliant and the meal was like a fairytale.

"It is still unfortunate we are £3,200 out of pocket but it was like a happy ever after really.

"Everyone came together to help - it really meant a lot to us."

The couple are now honeymooning in Portugal.

Fifty jobs were lost with the hotel closure.
