Bridgnorth charity's fundraiser offers people the chance to win a diamond ring worth £750

The sealed pots include two nine-carat encrusted diamond rings, each worth an estimated £750

Shoppers in a Shropshire town are being offered the chance to uncover a hidden diamond ring while helping a local children’s charity.

Throughout November, the Hope House shop on Bridgnorth’s High Street will host a special jewellery event as part of the charity's Quality Moments Matter fundraising campaign.

For £15, customers can choose one of 123 sealed pots, each containing a ring valued at around £20.

Hidden among them are two nine-carat encrusted diamond rings, each worth an estimated £750.

The idea comes from volunteer jewellery valuer Julie Blunt, who has been volunteering at the Bridgnorth shop for almost a decade.

Julie, 52, from Bloxwich, said: "I've been volunteering at the Bridgnorth shop for nearly 10 years and I regularly value all the jewellery that comes through the doors.

"Over the years I've been fortunate to learn from friends and contacts in the jewellery trade, and I thought this would be a fun way to raise money for the Quality Moments Matter campaign.

"I sourced all the jewellery through my connections and I'm looking forward to seeing how much we can raise. Of course, everyone will be hoping to find one of the diamond rings, but every pot will contain jewellery worth more than the £15 entry price."

Hope House is aiming to raise £500,000 in just 36-hours on November 22 and 23 through its Quality Moments Matter campaign.

Every pound donated during the campaign will be doubled thanks to match funding from local businesses, helping the charity provide even more special moments for children with life-threatening conditions and their families.

Dawn Ball, fundraiser for Hope House Children's Hospices, said: "Every day, Hope House helps children and families make the most of every moment, surrounded by expert care, love and joy.

"We can currently provide the clinical care every child who needs us deserves. The additional funds raised through Quality Moments Matter will help create the memories that matter so much to families, whether that's a day out together, therapeutic play, special experiences or simply time to enjoy being a family."

The jewellery draw will take place on November 23 during the final day of the Quality Moments Matter campaign.

To take part people can visit the Hope House shop on Bridgnorth High Street and ask in store for details.
