When Kerrie Ann clocks off from her day job as a primary school data manager, she doesn’t just put her feet up.

Instead she heads to her desk and gets to work crafting characters and plots for her cosy crime thrillers.

Writing had been a long-loved hobby for the 35-year-old Wolverhampton woman. But seeing her work in print seemed too much like a pipe-dream until she discovered self-publishing two years ago.

“I’ve been writing for a long, long time but I never thought any of it would be good enough to put out there into the world and I didn’t know how to do it,” says Kerrie, who lives in Penn. “I met the author Mark Edwards, who lives near me, and he told me his first books were indie-published. I also read a lot of Angela Marsons’ books – she’s local and used to work at Merry Hill as a security guard before she was an author. They are normal people like me and I thought I’ve got to give it a shot and I went from there,” says Kerrie.

Since then she has self-published children’s book Susie's Multicoloured Raincoat; The Bristles' Adventures: A collection of children’s short stories; and a short horror novel, Pancakes for Breakfast along with the first book in her Fox Files cosy crime series, Death on the Waves.

The next title in the series, Death in the Hotel, will be out in December and is currently available to pre-order.
