Yellow fog warning to affect travel across West Midlands and Staffordshire

A yellow weather warning for fog has been issued by the Met Office for much of the West Midlands and Staffordshire tomorrow.

Misty conditions are expected to develop across the West Midlands on Tuesday, December 16 evening and persist into the late morning on Wednesday, December 17.

Wolverhampton, Walsall, Sandwell, Dudley, Birmingham and parts of Staffordshire and Shropshire are likely to be affected.

The alert, classified as low impact but medium likelihood, is in place from midnight until around 10am, and forecasters are expecting patches of dense fog that could significantly reduce visibility on roads and rail lines.

Motorists are being urged to allow extra time for journeys, use fog lights where appropriate and exercise caution, particularly on rural routes and motorways where visibility could drop below comfortable levels.

There is also the potential for delays to bus and train services, and travellers are advised to check ahead before setting out.
