Two men killed after car flips over in West Bromwich
Two men were killed when their car overturned in a crash on a road in the Black Country.
The smash happened on Park Lane in West Bromwich last night.
Both men were thrown from the Honda Civic after the car hit roadside railings and overturned on a stretch of the road near Handsworth Cemetery just after 10pm.
A 28-year-old man suffered a serious head injury and died at the scene and a 23-year-old man died later in hospital. Both men are believed to be from Handsworth.
Car parts, a damaged fence panel, and twisted fence post remained at the scene of the crash today.
Police today said it was believed the men were heading along Park Lane, approaching the junction with Camp Lane, at around 10.10pm when the Honda Civic struck the metal barriers and flipped onto its roof.
Pc Karl Davies from West Midlands Police's Collision Investigation Unit, said: "It doesn't appear any other vehicles were involved or that anyone else was injured – we are hoping to discover exactly what happened and are keen to hear from any witnesses.
"Park Lane is a fairly busy thoroughfare and we are hoping people will have been in the area and saw what happened.
"Two men have tragically lost their lives and two families have been left shocked and grief stricken at their sudden death."
Any witnesses are urged to call the Collision Investigation Unit at Perry Barr by dialling 101.
