A lorry, van and car collided at 4pm. Two lanes of the southbound M6 near junction 10 for Walsall remained closed two hours after the crash, with delays of up to an hour and queues leading all the way back to junction 11 for Cannock. There were also queues along the A454 Black Country Route back to The Keyway.

Three lanes were initially closed, causing tailbacks to build up just as thousands of drivers joined the motorway to make their commute home from work.

Paramedics were sent to the scene by West Midlands Ambulance Service but none of the casualties is thought to have suffered serious injuries.
