Tim Witherspoon boxing glove goes up for auction

Boxing fans can pack a punch for charity by bidding for a framed glove signed by a famous heavyweight champion.
Dudley Council is auctioning the glove, which belonged to Tim Witherspoon to raise money for the Mayor of Dudley's charities.
The left-handed glove is sealed in a glass case and signed by the twice former WBA World Heavyweight Champion. There is also a signed picture of the former American boxer, who beat Frank Bruno in defend his title in 1986.
It has been donated by Priory Park Boxing Club to help raise funds for the Councillor Alan Finch's chosen charities - Hearing Dogs for Deaf People and White House Cancer Support, Dudley.
Head coach Paul Gough said the glove had been donated to the club by Bruce Thomson of Baker Goodchild which had sponsored one of its events.
"We always raise some money for the mayor's charities and both Alan and his brother Ken are big supporters of the club.
"We wanted to give something back to them and thought donating the glove would help them to raise money."
The club in Priory Road is currently building an extension to its base which will allow it to accommodate some of the 50 youngsters on the waiting list.
"Work is going well and I am looking forward to getting it finished," said Mr Gough.
Witherspoon lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he trains boxers, including his son, lightweight Tim Witherspoon Jr.
People can submit bids of more than £80 via email to [email protected] and the closing date for entries is May 16.
