These incredible images show the level of devastation caused by a massive fire at the Hickory's Smokehouse restaurant.

Metal roof panels and the remains of the thatched roof now cover the floor of what was previously a popular American-style restaurant, which has been reduced to a charred shell.

Much of the building has collapsed in on itself due to the severity of the fire.

Flames tore through the Wall Heath restaurant, which had only been open since November last year.

Around 100 firefighters tackled last month's blaze, which was caused by an electrical fault.

Footage of the ruined restaurant was captured by student Joe Baker, who flew his drone over the building.

It enabled him to get up-close pictures which revealed the true scale of the devastation after the fire. The drone footage shows the entrance to the restaurant, including the front door and white fencing –to which the menu is still attached – still largely intact.

But it was almost the only part of the building that wasn't engulfed by the inferno and as the drone heads up, it reveals the damage to the rest of the building, which has been completely gutted.

The restaurant opened on the site of the the former Kingfisher club, which was well known as a live music and cabaret venue.

Joe, who is just 17 and is a student at King Edward VII College in Stourbridge, runs a YouTube account dedicated to catching some of the Black Country's most famous buildings from the air, including Himley Hall.

The owners of the Kidderminster Road venue have pledged to rebuild it, although there has been no timescale as to when it could return.

More than 20 rooms at the adjoining Kingfisher Hotel were evacuated while the A449 was closed as a result of the blaze.

Crews from Brierley Hill and Stourbridge were the first to arrive at the smokehouse and were joined by 12 more teams as smoke billowed out of the roof of the restaurant and high into the Black Country sky.

Firefighters used a hydraulic platforms as they battled to bring the fire under control.

The owners of Hickory's, which has five branches in total in the UK, said they were distraught for their team and the community.

The company said in a statement following the blaze: "We are absolutely devastated about the news of the fire at our Wall Heath restaurant both for our team and the local community. Thankfully no one has been injured.

"Firefighters have done an incredible job fighting the blaze. We'd like to thank people for all their support."
