Tipton man who set fire to disabled neighbours flat after earlier arguments is detained
A Tipton man who drilled a hole from his first floor flat, poured petrol down it and lit it after an argument with neighbours has been given an indefinite hospital order.
Police were called three times to a council block of flats in Queens Road, Tipton between March 15 and 17 after incidents involving Marcus Hunt.
The last time saw a ground floor of a disabled woman who used a mobility scooter set ablaze - she narrowly managed to escape but the flat was extensively damaged to the tune of £9,500.
Wolverhampton Crown Court heard the incidents started on the 15th when a neighbour was on her first floor balcony and Hunt in the garden of the communal block and he shouted up to her to ask whether she had any cannabis - when she replied no and refused to go and get him some an argument started about who was playing their music the loudest.
Prosecuting counsel Cathlyn Orchard said: "It triggered Hunt to produce a handheld axe and a knife saying 'do you want this in you?,' She was terrified, believing he was going to come to her flat and took shelter in an adjoining flat of a tenant she was whilst calling the police.
