‘Police were all over the place’: Oldbury residents react after a Ford Fiesta crashed into a lamppost on their street and a man is taken to hospital
A residential road in Oldbury has remained closed since late on Friday evening after a Ford Fiesta crashed into a lamppost
Residents have spoken of their shock after a late night crash in which a Ford Fiesta crashed into a lamppost on a quiet residential road which is home to a parade of shops.
People living in and around Newbury Lane in Oldbury heard a smash just before 11pm last night (Friday).
Two men were taken to hospital, one sustained serious injuries.
Police detained a 20-year-old man on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving while under the influence of drink or drugs. Officers said he was also taken to hospital for assessment and will be questioned in due course.

Jess Andrews, aged 36, or the Newbury Lane, near the crash, said: "I heard the crash last night, but I didn't really know it was bad until tbe road was closed.
"It's surprising to see the roads still closed, people are turning their cars around, but you don't want to walk on exposed wires.
"Tracey Reiner, aged 41, of the area, said: "It's been a bit hectic driving to the shops. Police were all over the place yesterday, it did make you a bit worried."
A police officer at the scene told the Express & Star: "The road is closed now so that the council can repair a lamppost that was damaged.
"It's showing exposed cables, which can be dangerous, so the road is closed in the meantime."
