'She has shown incredible bravery' - Police praise victim of Walsall man, 40, convicted of rape and controlling behaviour
A man has been convicted of rape and controlling behaviour after subjecting a woman to months of abuse.
The woman first approached police in September 2024 and revealed she had been raped by Mark Williams at an address in Walsall.
During a video recorded interview, she also told officers that Williams had limited her access to her finances and contact with her friends and family. He also installed hidden cameras in her home.

The woman was able to show officers text messages from Williams, and West Midlands Police were able to gather supporting evidence from family members.
Williams was arrested three days after the woman reported the sexual and controlling abuse. He was then consequently charged with rape and engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour.
The 40-year-old, of Hockley Close, Birmingham admitted the charges part way through a trial at Birmingham Crown Court on March 10. He is due to be sentenced on 19 May.
Detective Constable Daniel Folley, from West Midlands Police's Public Protection Unit, said: “The woman in this case has been pivotal to securing a conviction for Williams. She has shown incredible bravery and resilience during the process.
“Coercive and controlling behaviour can develop over time during a relationship and can make it difficult for people to come forward. We encourage people who see victims of coercive behaviour and notice the signs to report it to us.”
