'Stupid' man deported for growing cannabis near Wolverhampton returned to UK
A "stupid" man who was deported after being jailed for his significant role in an illegal £330,000 cannabis growing enterprise near Wolverhampton - returned to the UK only to be arrested again.
Albanian national Mikel Hasani was jailed for two years and three months and ordered to pay a £228 victim surcharge in July 2024 in relation to the discovery of the drugs at an address in Perton, South Staffordshire. Shortly afterwards he was deported to the Balkan state where he stayed briefly before making his way back.
Yesterday (March 9) he was sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court for his latest crimes after admitting cannabis production, possession of a knife and breach of a sexual harm prevention order at a previous hearing. He is now expected to be deported for a second time by the Home Office.
Sentencing Hasani, formerly of Wolverhampton, Judge Jonathan Gosling, said: "This defendant is 29 years old and an Albanian national. He had previously been living here and in 2018 received sentences for possession of class A drugs.
"In 2023 following convictions for sex offences with a minor you were made subject to a sexual harm prevention order.
