Date 94-year-old woman will be sentenced for causing death of woman by dangerous driving near Stourbridge Tesco Express

A date has been set for the sentencing of a 94-year-old woman who has admitted to causing death by dangerous driving near a Tesco Express in Stourbridge.

Joan Barwick, of Walker Avenue, Wollescote, admitted to killing 77-year-old Linda Wareham, who was hit by a red Vauxhall Corsa on Hagley Road near Tesco Express in Oldswinford, Stourbridge at 4pm on April 17, 2025. 

Mrs Wareham, of Priory Court, Glasshouse Hill, died in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, from head injuries sustained in the road traffic accident on the same day.

Police said at the time of the incident that the driver stayed at the scene and was helping them with their enquiries.

Barwick pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving when she appeared at Wolverhampton Crown Court on February 5 and was granted unconditional bail. 

She is set to be sentenced on April 24.
