Two men charged following Guardian Taskforce patrols in West Bromwich and Walsall
Two men have been charged following Guardian Taskforce patrols in Walsall and West Bromwich this week.
Officers from West Midlands Police's Guardian Taskforce team were patrolling in Walsall town centre yesterday (February 17) when they stopped two men on High Street.
Following searches, cannabis and a knife were seized, and a 20-year-old man was arrested for possession of a class B drug, and possession of a knife.
Paywan Rafhat has now been charged with both offences.
In West Bromwich, Guardian officers spotted a man on Duchess Parade, and following a short foot chase, he was detained.
Officers seized dozens of 'deal bags' of cannabis, and the 32-year-old was arrested for possession of class B drugs.
Aranvir Singh has now been charged and will be appearing before Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on March 11.
A force spokesperson said: "Project Guardian is a specialist taskforce which tackles knife crime and youth violence.
"There is particular emphasis on reducing knife crime, through a range of tactics from plain-clothed operations to high visibility patrols and positive engagement with young people."
