999 call played to jury in Staffordshire baby murder trial
The 999 call made by a man jointly accused of the murder of a baby in Staffordshire has been played in court.

On Wednesday the jury in the trial of Sean Jefferson and Amy Clarke heard details of the phone call made by Jefferson at about 7.19am on March 27, 2022 calling for assistance for their daughter Darcy-Leigh Jefferson who was not breathing. They were also shown doorbell footage captured at a neighbouring property in Burntwood of Jefferson, dressed in a blue-coloured top, asking for help.
Jefferson is heard describing the the baby's condition to an emergency service operator, in an agitated manner and stating: "Hello my baby isn't breathing. She is five-weeks-old. Can you come now?"
After asking questions about the baby's condition the operator is then heard instructing Jefferson how to attempt to resuscitation.
The operator then asks him:" Is she breathing?" Jefferson replies: "Very faintly." Meanwhile the baby could be heard making brief noises in the background.
