Exclusive: Former Wolves boss in contention for Championship job

Former Wolves boss Vitor Pereira is among the names being considered for the vacant manager's job at Leicester City, the Express & Star understands.

The 57-year-old has been out of a job since he was sacked at Wolves in November, following a 3-0 defeat to Fulham that saw Wolves sitting bottom of the Premier League after slipping to eight defeats in 10 top-flight matches.

He spent less than a year in charge of the Molineux club after arriving the previous December and helping keep Wolves in the Premier League, alongside a remarkable six-game winning run.

Pereira signed a new three-year contract in September but was relieved of his duties less than two months later and he has been out of work ever since.

Now, the Express & Star understands that fellow Midlands club Leicester are considering Pereira for their next manager.

It comes after Marti Cifuentes was sacked following just six months in charge, with his last match coming in the 2-1 home defeat to Oxford United on Saturday.

Leicester sit 14th in the Championship and lost 11 of their 29 matches under Cifuentes.

The club are looking at a number of candidates and it is understood Pereira is one they are considering.
