Two-month-old baby girl Harleen Bains died after sustaining head injuries at a maisonette in Caddick Crescent, in West Bromwich, on July 23, 2020. She was discovered to be in a serious condition when the emergency services arrived and died the following day.

Her mother Zara Arsalan, also known as Sharandeep Talwandi, aged 31, is standing trial at Coventry Crown Court for murdering the infant causing her multiple skull fractures and bleeding on the brain.

Giving evidence on Monday paediatric neuroradiologist Professor Stavors Stivaros showed the jury a series of scan images taken of Harleen as part of her treatment and some computer generated images.

He said the images of the baby showed there was swelling to her scalp with signs of "acute or recent bleeding" and there was significant soft tissue swelling to the left, right and back of her head showing "there must have been a very significant impact".
