'This was one of the biggest hauls discovered in the area' - Cannabis plants worth £1.7m seized in Walsall
Police have seized more than 1,700 cannabis plants worth around £1.7 million following a warrant at a disused Walsall factory.
The warrant, executed under the Misuse of Drugs Act, was carried out at a property on Midland Road, Walsall yesterday (Sunday), shortly before 4.30am, where 1,737 plants were seized.
West Midlands Police officers from St Matthews Neighbourhood Team were supported by the Priority Crime Team and Operational Support Unit to carry out the warrant.

Mark Collins, neighbourhood policing supervisor for St Matthew’s said: “This was one of the biggest hauls of cannabis discovered in the Walsall area. A huge amount of cannabis has now been taken off our streets.”
Danh Nguyen, aged 33, of no fixed abode, was arrested and charged with producing a Class B drug.
He was appearing at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court today (Monday) for a first hearing.
Anyone with any information about drugs can report it to police on 101 or by calling Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
