Naveed Hussain, aged 23, of Ida Road, West Bromwich assisted Adyan Hussain who fired shots towards a white Volkswagen Golf at the junction of High Street and Trinity Way on May 1 last year resulting in the victim suffering head, neck and chest pellet wounds.

The first shot missed the male victim, aged in his 20s, but the second shattered the rear windscreen of the Golf and injured him.

On Friday (January 9) at Wolverhampton Crown Court a trial of issue hearing was held ahead of Naveed Hussain being sentenced. He had previously admitted an offence of assisting an offender in relation to the case, but claimed that while he did purchase the cleaning solution, he had no idea why his co-defendant Adyan Hussain, aged 22, wanted it.

Judge Jonathan Gosling told the hearing it was a limited issue: "I agree with the analysis of the prosecution. The level of criminality is very serious. It would have been impossible for the principal offender to carry it out without the assistance of  this defendant. He would not have been able to execute this carefully organised plan."
