Attacker stabbed lifelong friend during confrontation in West Bromwich pub

A man confronted and then stabbed a lifelong friend in the neck inside a packed West Bromwich public house.

Daljit Bhadher, aged 46, from Winson Green, pleaded guilty to wounding and possession of a knife after during the disorder which happened inside The Royal Castle Bar and Restaurant, in West Bromwich, on July 20 last year. His brother Harvinder Bhader, aged 48, pleaded guilty to affray relating to him hurling a glass at another man which missed.

Judge Jonathan Gosling told Wolverhampton Crown Court that the argument and the part of the attack that followed was captured on closed circuit cameras at the premises in Sams Lane. The stabbing victim was taken to hospital where he received stitches as result.

Sentencing them them Judge Gosling said: "The brothers have to be dealt with for different levels of involvement in a serious piece of violence on July 20. Both were remanded in custody since their arrests. It is clear that the defendants and the victims have known each other all their lives."
