Neil Jones, aged 48, of no fixed address appeared before Birmingham magistrates today and was remanded in custody to appear before the city’s crown court on Monday.

Tomasz, aged 45, was taken from his home on Raleigh Close, Handsworth, in a white van at around 8.45am on March 27, 2019.

At 10.45pm that day, he banged on the door of a property in Bickerstaffe, Lancashire, to get help.

Suffering 75 per cent burns, he was taken to hospital by ambulance but sadly died in a specialist burns unit in Liverpool on June 21.

The police investigation has continued ever since, and last year officers arrested and charged three other people in connection with the investigation.

West Midlands Police say they would urge anyone with information about Tomasz’ death who has not already spoken to them to please get in touch.

A statement read: "You can speak to our officers by calling 101 or get in touch via Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
