Majinder Singh Virk, aged 48, was jailed for three years and banned from driving at Birmingham Crown Court on December 22 for crimes related to dangerous driving.

Virk, of Norbury Road, Wolverhampton, was found to be driving on the wrong side of the road before hitting a moped rider, leaving her with serious, life-changing injuries.

Virk was found to be driving over the speed limit as he overtook cars on Moseley Road, Bilston, just after 1.50pm on January 7.

The BMW he was driving in hit the rider near the junction of Prouds Lane with such force that the victim's helmet came off.

Virk remained at the scene following the collision, with investigators able to establish that he was travelling at between 49 and 54mph just prior to hitting the victim.

Walsall fraudster Abdirahman Yalahow, also known as Abdi Rahman, was jailed after being found to have preyed on vulnerable elderly people to steal more than £100,000 by pretending to be a bank representative or a law enforcement official.

Yalahow phoned his victims claiming their bank accounts had been compromised, and that he needed their help as 'fraudulent activity' had been noticed on their accounts.

The 29-year-old convinced the victims to leave their bank cards available for a courier to collect, or for them to pass them over in person, having already provided their security details while on the phone.

The cards were then used to buy expensive goods as well as withdraw money until the accounts had been drained.

More than £100,000 was taken from eight victims between August and December 2024, and when officers conducted warrants at two addresses, they discovered electronics, including phones, which linked Yalahow to the crime.

Yalahow, of Yew Tree Road, Walsall, was sentenced to six years and six months in jail.

Officers were called by ambulance colleagues to reports of a collision in Pope Road in The Scotlands estate at around 2.20pm on July 2.

On arrival, they discovered a 42-year-old victim being treated for serious injuries to his legs, ribs and shoulder by paramedics before he was taken to the hospital.

Supported by CCTV evidence, investigators found that Melvin Winters and his girlfriend, Josie James, had met their victim that afternoon, and there was an argument.
