Wolverhampton stabbing: Everything we know about Christmas Day murder of 'loving' father-of-two
The victim of the brutal Christmas Day killing has been officially named as 'loving' father-of-two, Trey Johnson.
The Deanfield area of Wolverhampton was brought to a standstill on December 25, Christmas Day, following a stabbing that left a father-of-two dead.
The incident saw emergency services crews rush to Burcot Avenue, east of the city centre, at around 3.30am, to reports that a man in his 30s had been attacked.

On arrival, they discovered the victim, a 30-year-old man; however, nothing could be done to save him, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
West Midlands Police officially named the man as Trey Johnson on December 29, a 'caring soul' who would 'do anything for anyone'.

What happened?

We know that the incident took place prior to 3.30am on Christmas Day, with emergency services being called to the road.
The incident was called a 'fatal stabbing' by West Midlands Police, who said that emergency services teams were called just after 3.30am to reports that the 30-year-old man had been stabbed.
They said that despite the efforts of paramedics who attended the scene, he was pronounced dead.
Community response

Residents of the area described being 'woken in the night' by police and ambulance sirens, and investigators making door-to-door enquiries.
In the days following the incident, they described their sadness at the Christmas Day killing, with many offering their thoughts to the family.
They also talked about not wanting to let their children out to play with their toys on Christmas Day, saying that it made for 'a terrible Christmas'.
One resident said: "It's made for a terrible Christmas. It is really sad to hear. I can't imagine what that family must be going through.
"When something like this happens, you don't really want your kids playing in the street, but for that to happen on Christmas Day, I didn't even let them go out to play with their toys."
Arrests

So far, three people have been arrested and released following the incident, with two of them being released 'with no further action'.
Following 'quick-time' enquiries by police investigators in the hours directly following the incident, two men, aged 35 and 58, were arrested on suspicion of the killing the same morning.
However, the force announced that they were later released 'with no further action'.
On December 27, West Midlands Police announced that a woman, aged 42, had been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
She was later released on police bail on December 28 pending further investigations.

The victim was officially named as 30-year-old father-of-two, Trey Johnson, on December 29, a 'caring soul' who 'would do anything for anyone'.
In a tribute that was released by his family, he was described as having an 'infectious' smile that would 'brighten the room' when he walked into it.
His family said: "Trey is a loving sibling, loving father, a loving partner and a caring soul.
"Trey is a person who would do anything for anyone. His smile, his love and his energy are infectious and would brighten up the room when he walks into it.
"He was a loving father of two. He was a good man, a good son, who did everything and more for his family.
"We as a family are very proud of Trey, and he will be missed greatly by his family and everyone who knew him."
Investigation

Police are continuing to appeal for information following the incident, asking anyone with information to contact them directly.
Detective Inspector Michelle Cordell, from the West Midlands Police Homicide Unit, said: "Our thoughts are focused on Mr Johnson's family and loved ones, at this incredibly difficult time.
"Our enquiries are moving at pace, and we are keeping the family updated as the investigation moves forward.
"We have spoken with a number of witnesses, but would urge anyone who has information about what happened that night to come forward and talk to us."
