Two teenagers charged with knife offences during West Bromwich police operation

Two teenagers have been charged with possession of bladed articles by Project Guardian officers in West Bromwich.

West Midlands Police have announced that two teenagers, aged 16 and 17, have been charged with weapon offences following their arrests on Thursday.

Officers from the force's Guardian Taskforce were patrolling around West Bromwich when they spotted the two boys and subsequently arrested them.

During a search, two knives were recovered. 

The boys were charged with possession of a bladed article, with both due to appear before magistrates court next month.

A police spokesperson said: "Project Guardian is a specialist taskforce which tackles knife crime and youth violence. 

"There is a particular emphasis on reducing knife crime, through a range of tactics, from plain-clothed operations to high visibility patrols.
