Guilty plea for Birmingham teenager who pointed a fire extinguisher at police in Birmingham during a road pursuit

A teenager who pointed a fire extinguisher at police in an attempt to 'distract officers' during a pursuit has pleaded guilty.

Shea McCallion, aged 19, has pleaded guilty to theft and aiding and abetting dangerous driving following a trial at Birmingham Magistrates Court, following a pursuit where he used a fire extinguisher to distract police.

West Midlands Police were called to reports of a car being stolen from an address in the Hodge Hill area of Birmingham on October 29.

The next day, officers from the WMP Road Crime Team spotted a stolen car and began to follow it. 

The force said that after initially failing to stop, the car was pursued, where the passenger was seen to activate a fire extinguisher in the direction of the officers.

The man also threw the extinguisher canister at a police car, which caused damage to the vehicle.

A short while later, the car was stopped by officers on the A38 Northbound slip road near the M6.

Shea McCallion was arrested for theft and aiding and abetting dangerous driving, before later being charged with the crimes and pleading guilty at Birmingham Magistrates' Court. 

He is due to be sentenced on Friday.
