The 34-year-old, of no fixed address, has now been charged with the offences between September and October.

He has also been charged with an offence of burglary.

He was remanded to appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court on November 14. No details are yet available of his appearance.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "It's currently Safer Business Action (SaBA) Week and we've been undertaking activity as part of a partnership approach to reducing retail crime, anti-social behaviour and other crimes which impact businesses in local communities.

"Combatting shop thefts is a priority at Walsall Local Policing Area (LPA) and we are already running Op Marigold to tackle the issue."
