'It was chaos - I had no idea what was going on,' man accused of murdering Matthew Adams tells jury
One of the men accused of murdering Matthew Adams has told a jury he "had no idea what was going on" when the father of two was being attacked outside a pub in West Bromwich.
John Wise, who is accused of murdering Mr Adams along with three others, was on the witness for the third day Wolverhampton Crown Court yesterday (Tuesday).
Mr Adams was injured during violent disorder inside and outside The Gough Arms, West Bromwich, in the early hours of March 19, 2023 and died four days later having refused to check into hospital.

Giving evidence Wise, 44, again asserted he was the victim of Mr Adams, who he said headbutted, punched and bit him. He maintained that the aftermath when the 33-year-old father of two, from the Yew Tree estate, was battered by the defendants was not his fault.
He said: "It was like chaos. I did not know what was going on. Obviously people had seen me being attacked and decided to help me out."
