West Midlands Police said the charge followed an incident in Kelvin Road in Beechdale in Walsall on Wednesday (October 8) where officers were threatened.

The force said the incident happened at around 5pm before the suspect fled the scene.

An update said officers detained a 37-year-old man in the Bloxwich area on Friday in connection with the allegations.

Daniel Griffiths, of Walsall, has now been charged with an offence of possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

He was due to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court today (Saturday).
