West Midlands Police said the action was part of its continuing work to tackle crime and keep residents safe.

It said it had teams working relentlessly throughout the force region to catch those who cause harm within communities.

Since September 8 officers have detained more than 1,000 people in connection with a wide range of crimes including more than 200 for assault, 300 for domestic abuse and scores of arrests for a wide range of other offences such as robbery, burglary and vehicle crime.

The force said it was continuing to reduce crime and work to ensure those who commit offences are brought to justice.

Total crime across the West Midlands dropped by almost 20,000 offences - more than six per cent - between July 2024 and June 2025 compared to the previous 12 months.

But the number of arrests has risen by more than nine per cent, as efforts continue to provide an improved public service following the introduction of the force's new local operating model more than two years ago.

Specialist force-wide teams along with those based within each of seven local policing areas ensure officers can respond and deal with issues.

The force also has seven custody blocks in operation compared to four in 2022. The Willenhall custody suite was recently refurbished, increasing the number of cells from 20 to 24.
