Suspect arrested for 'going equipped' following police foot chase in West Bromwich

A man was arrested after police officers found a selection of tools commonly used in burglaries following a chase.

Officers from West Midlands Police pursued the man after he ran away on Trinity Street in West Bromwich on Sunday night and after being caught, he was found in possession of two pairs of gardening gloves, pliers and a chisel.

The 21-year-old man from Walsall was arrested for going equipped and was taken into custody for questionining.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "A man has been arrested after we recovered tools that are commonly used in burglaries in West Bromwich.

"At around 11.05pm last night (31 Aug), we spotted a man carrying a car bonnet on Trinity Street. He ran from officers but we caught up with him.

"During a search, two pairs of gardening gloves, pliers and a chisel were recovered.

"A 21-year-old man from Walsall has been arrested for going equipped. He remains in custody for questioning.

"If you see anything suspicious in your area please call 101. Always call 999 in an emergency."
